Downtown San Jose
A short video from earlier today when I occupied SJ city hall for a few hours
Set up tent in front of SJ City Hall today for a few hours. City Hall security are the only people who care if we set up tents on City Hall property, an they don’t work on sundays, so I was able to #occupy undisturbed.
During #FinancialFriday in Downtown San Jose, this Bank of America branch at Park & S Market shut down (over an hour early) when a handful of protesters and a drum (courtesy of @OccupyManJose) showed up to protest a Wells Fargo a block away.
See my twitter timeline at @bobsterrrob for my live-tweets/pics from the entire protest, and make sure to follow me there for future live-tweeting & livestreaming (via my Ustream channel) of events around the SF Bay Area.
I’ll leave you with a nice sample of #FinancialFriday bank shutdown beats:
(Follow @OccupyManJose on twitter for details on future #FinancialFriday bank protests!)
Upcoming/Ongoing event - #FinancialFriday: @OccupyManJose (in the tent hat), other south bay occupiers (including @thecomicskid pictured w/sign) and many in solidarity from #OO shut down big predatory banks every Friday in Downtown San Jose.
3pm - Meet and Rally at San Jose City Hall
4pm - March on the banks
I’ve livestreamed and photographed this event several times and have to note the ease and consistancy in shutting down (or at least majorly inconveniencing) these major bank (Wells Fargo & B of A) branches in a major city. In addition to educating customers on ‘The Crimes of (insert name of big bank)’, they are also encouraged to move their money to local credit unions.
March 23rd should be my next visit to #FinancialFriday
Teardrop, one of three #OO members arrested this week. These pics were taken on Feb 24 in San Jose by @worthoftheworld
On Friday, February 24, 2012, Occupy Oakland carpooled to San Jose to join Financial Friday. We marched to 5 banks & spread our message to customers that were turned away from their banks. Here’s some of the fun. (post 2 of 2)
